Police have made an emergency declaration and set up an exclusion zone after a hazardous chemical was located at a Gold Coast home.

An emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) was made about 3.20pm after police found a hazardous chemical at a home on Pacific Parade, Bilinga.

It is unknown what the chemical is at this stage.

Four Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews are on scene after arriving about 12.50pm and are assisting police in removing the chemical.

The exclusion zone includes Pacific Parade between Graham Street and Johnston Street, including Cahill Street.
